Selecting the Vase
When it comes to selecting a vase for your bouquet, there are certain elements that need to be considered.
Is the vase mouth wide enough?
Does the vase support a high or low-profile?
Does it complement the colors or style of the bouquet?
Once you know the basic needs of your vase, it is much easier to select one, plus it will set you up for success in constructing your bouquet.
When browsing flower vases with Your Tabletop Florist, with every bouquet demonstrated, the vase will not only meet all the requirements, but each vase will elevate your flower arranging game.
For today’s Harvest Hues Bouquet, this lovely, seasonally appropriate vase is the ideal candidate!
This beautiful glossy shrub like plant is quite interesting. It may appear to have leaves, but they are not leaves at all. They are cladodes, stem structures that flatten and look like leaves.
They serve the same function as leaves, carrying out photosynthesis; therefore, providing energy to the plant.
But for today, these bright green leaf-like shapes are providing the base structure to our Harvest Hues bouquet.
Grab a handful of stems and arrange them like so, creating the beginning stages and shape of the bouquet.
Having contrasting colors, and textures, within a bouquet will help each component stand out. For the earthy tone in this particular arrangement, I have added Proso Millet, a grassy grain.
I chose Millet because it reminds me of summers end and the shift into fall. When I look at the Millet, I visualize fields full of it, swaying in the wind and I hear the rustling of its strands.
The abundance of fall vibes flowing from the Millet make it an ideal addition for this fall inspired arrangement.
Each strand is placed all through the bouquet and at varying heights. The Millet also complements the vases color and texture, making them a perfect pairing.
Of course I had to add a red flower to this bouquet! Red is one of my favorite colors and I love the red tones that show up in the Fall.
Mums are a quintessential flower of the season, so it just made sense to add red Mums to this arrangement.
Red hues naturally stand out due to their vibrant tones, but to make the Mums stand out even more, I placed a Mum near each Millet strand, bringing even more attention to each component.
Notice each contrasting color looks even more vivid next to one another, showcasing each floral element.
This arrangement has varying unique pieces for each component, so I wanted to add yet another flower that is just as special and still held true to harvest hues.
This led me to selecting the Protea, a truly distinct flower. As you can see, the Protea flower looks as though it’s from another time, and that’s because it is!
Protea are one of the oldest flowers on the planet, dating back to about 300 million years ago. This amazing ancient flower has also been used for medicinal purposes. To learn even more interesting details about protea visit, www.touristsecrets.com
As you can see, I alternated the position of the Protea and elevated their heights throughout the arrangement. They were the perfect piece to round out the Harvest Hues Bouquet.
I hope you all found this bouquet to be as lovely and special as I have. I also hope it has inspired you to explore various floral options while looking forward to the upcoming season.
Thank you for allowing me to be your floral arranging guide. I look forward to sharing many more moments with you. Until next time, take care flower fans.
